jazzbo
Wonder how many times I've looked at Marguerite's face and smiled. I've had this two lp set a long time!

thelbc
Fabulous Johnny Cash....Record Store Day reissue...mono...very nice! Can still be had on ebay for $25.....less in January when normal release comes out. Fed Ex just brought 4 more AP Prestige mono LP's from their series. I signed up for it. Frankly, I am looking forward to the Prestige stereo series a bit more. I have few if any of those titles.
Clunky
Wonder how many times I've looked at Marguerite's face and smiled. I've had this two lp set a long time! wonderful set but then again so many of these 2LP sets from Miles were great. The level of consistency is very impressive 1969-1975. On to another old favorite. Been looking out for a nice copy of this. I love Crown of Creation and this is the next logical step ( backwards or is its forwards...) clifford_thornton
Took me a while to find a satisfactory stereo original, though I still want to get a clean mono. If & when I do, you can have my stereo copy!

jazzbo
Rich, glorious mono! wonderful set but then again so many of these 2LP sets from Miles were great. The level of consistency is very impressive 1969-1975. Agreed, I just happened on Miles Davis at Fillmore right after Bitches Brew when I returned from Swaziland in '71 and it fascinated the living daylights out of me, this music is part of my inner musical language. Just love the chaotic moments, the beautiful moments, it's all very exciting. I love the whole outuput from the start of the electric peiriod to '75, but this one, Filles and Bitches Brew are my most often played. JSngry
Juhani Aaltonen Prana - Live at Groovy (Leo) - w/ Reggie Workman & Edward Vesala Keep coming back to this one to see if I can ever get into it at a level deeper than "respect", but so far no. His later work, though, is a different story. But here, all I can hear here is a guy who's competently and sincerely copped that late-Trane thing but isn't really speaking much past that, musically or personally. Then again, that's a tough row to hoe, and he eventually did. And Reggie Workman is always good to hear.
JSngry
Ok,, Side Two opens up a little more, sounds more personal. But still, the diddly-diddly-diddly thing is something that would need to be worked through (and was). There's other ways to make those overtones move than going diddly-diddly-diddly. JSngry
It still takes be a while to separate what is Toshiko's own voice and what is the "West Coast Studio Players" accent, and I may never be able to do so completely (and maybe in the end there is no real difference?), but one thing I am sure of is that both are there, which makes for No Easy Conclusions other than that this is incredibly difficult music - and very personal - played incredibly well. jazzbo
This reminds me to put Kogun on again soon. Right now, one of my favorite Pee Wee Russell lps. (AKA Portrait of Pee Wee). Love it.
sgcim
Just picked up a Pioneer PL1150 (or D?) for $85 with a free setup from my local used record store, and been mainlinin' me some rare, cheap vinyl. Manny Albam "West Side Story"- It's hard to believe NYC was once a real jazz city before the current Marsaylis plague, and we got names like Quill, Brookmeyer, Costa, and Cohn swingin' up a storm on this one. Mike Elliot "atrio" - How Johnny Smith might have sounded if he hadn't hung it up in the 60s. Lalo Schifrin- "Brilliance" Rare Raney
JSngry
It was supposed to be Insights, the cover says so, and Dusty Groove sold it to me as such, but I'll be damned if it's not. Oh well, just three bucks, and I didn't have this one either, so..oh well!

Nana, under Vesala's name and with Arild Anderson on bass, is quite heavy in a late '60s/early '70s Euro/free way, but that probably isn't what you're looking for. I'll check it out, thanks. Not sure that I'm looking for anything specific in music other than not being able to easily identify what I'm not looking for and then not hear anything that overrides it, or at least questions it. Earye of the behearolder, etc.
