JSngry
Don't know about that, but any Album Covers With Sexy Mouths (Or Lips) tread that doesn't start of with this cover is not getting of to a good start! Which gives me an idea....

chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
(early?) 70s era United Artists pressing, classic style label, mono. it sounds fantastic. net savings over original: 1230 dollars. *my price: 18 i kind of regret passing on the hank quintet one i saw now. i mean they sound fine. its a 1000% analog transfer. the only thing is, did they really pull out the master for these. who knows. maybe the master was copied, then it was cut. either way, the actual master *had* to be consulted in this. this was the 1st reissue of the album, right? theres no pre U/A issues of this on Libery were there? brownie
Martial Solal 'Sans Tambour ni Trompette' (RCA France) Splendid album that was mentioned by (Simon8) in the Overlooked/Ignored/Neglected thread. My copy has been autographed by Martial Solal (signing barely visible in the top left of the front cover) for a ladyfriend who sold an impressive collection of signed Solal LPs a few years ago at a fleamarket! I managed to score several of them!
Kevin Bresnahan
Just finishing: Gene Ammons - The Soulful Moods Of Gene Ammons. Van Gelder in the deadwax. Nice date. Up next: Joe Zawinul - Money in the Pocket. Nice purple & red label mono pressing. I heard this at Stereo Jack's and bought it after it finished playing. jeffcrom
Art Ensemble of Chicago - People in Sorrow (Nessa) A truly magical album. As a young man searching for my own music, I listened to this one over and over again, trying to unlock its secrets. I hadn't spun it for awhile, but it was calling to me tonight. It's as beautiful as ever - thanks for releasing it in the U.S., Chuck. My copy has the even less readable yellow-on-white cover.

Turntable packed up last night in the middle of Art Blakey & Sonny Stitt - In walked Sonny - Sonet It's only two and a half years since I had the same problem repaired. Think I'll get a new one. JSngry
Who are you, Theodore Jarvis Jr.? Who are you who signed your name on the back of this album jacket? Who are you who wrote III DANCING (the underlining coming off the stem of the upper-case "G") next to "I'm In the Mood for Love"(sic), "Red Top", "Sometimes I'm Happy", and "Parker's Mood" and put //// before the same songs on the record label? Who are you who must have played the shit out of this record, but lovingly so, as there is a constant but light layer of noise on both sides, the kind that you can hear through perfectly well, the kind that comes not from abuse but from steady, heavy use, probably with a tone arm that weighs as much as or more than a large tomato? Whoever you are, Thedore Jarvis, Jr., I bought your discarded (by you? by your family? by your survivors? by a property maintenance company?) record for 99 cents, and am enjoying it at least as much for the images conjured by the writing and the surface noise and the little water warpage of a very small corner of the lower left back cover that looks like a drink was set on it for just a few seconds too long. Your live lives on, Theodore Jarvis, Jr., although I make no claim whatsoever to being even slightly accurate in it's imagining. But a life where people dance to King Pleasure can't be too bad a life, at least for the moments where they do.
JSngry
Another one from the collection of Theodore Jarvis Jr., who did not write anything on the record at all, and wrote only his name on the jacket. But on the paper inner sleeve about an inch away from the label-hole, he did write "There's a world". Who are you, Theodore Jarvis Jr.? The Magnificent Goldberg
Indeed. I have a couple of LPs previously owned by a guy called Wally, who wrote his name neatly on the label. He, too, evinced good taste. They were 'I got a woman' by Jimmy McGriff and "The grass roots' by Grasella Oliphant. UK editions which he'd prpbably had since they were issued in the mid 60s. Kevin Bresnahan
Lou Donaldson - Lou Takes Off. A Classic Records stereo pressing. Bernie Grundman did a nice job on these. Edited May 23, 2012 by Kevin Bresnahan
Kevin Bresnahan
After Sweet Papa Lou, I switched over to a late reissue of a favoite of mine: The Tatum Group Masterpieces - Art Tatum, Ben Webster, Red Callender & Bill Douglas. Anyone that claims that vinyl is always better than CD just needs to plop this on their turntable. The CD versions blow this right out of the water. This recoed is pretty dull and lacking in any high end, Noise reduction? Kevin

sidewinder
Indeed. I have a couple of LPs previously owned by a guy called Wally, who wrote his name neatly on the label. Not the 'Wally' who carved his name in the deadwax of the Blue Note 'Conn' series vinyl? That guy gets everywhere ! This recoed is pretty dull and lacking in any high end, Noise reduction? 70s Pablo vinyl? Some of them can sound a bit 'cut off' at the high end. Not all though - the original 'Pablo Live' series vinyl can often be far superior to the (later) CD issues. JSngry
Looks to be quite the Shady Grady, but still, 16 cuts from 1945-1947, and since I don't yet have the Crhonocologial Classis Wilson offerings, this one is certainly a welcome addition to the collectiobrarychive.
