Giorgio Gaslini: Nuovi Sentimenti (New Feelings) - (EMI Italy)

Excellent, excellent LP!

Still haven't sourced the "original" (and its beautiful cover) but the 70s press sounds good enough for me. It's a shame this wonderful album isn't better known. Of the several Gaslini LPs I own, this is probably the most fully-realized sounding.

Here's the original front cover artwork:

Didn't know that there had been another cover. Thanks for making me aware of that. Here's an image that may work:

Couldn't find a picture of this excellent New Orleans LP:

De De Pierce and His New Orleans Stompers (Center). A relatively rare appearance of De De without his wife Billie; George Lewis and Jim Robinson are in the band, as is bassist Chester Zardis, whom I saw in Preservation Hall at age 90, a couple of months before he died. He sounded fantastic.

Ted McNabb 'Big Band Swing' (Epic, mono)

ted_mcnabb_and_co.-big_band_swing.jpg

enjoying this after reading Marc Meyer's very interesting report on the album in yesterday's Jazz Wax

My copy still has the $2,99 price tag from the Princeton Record Exchange where I bought this!

A good investment it was!

That's a very interesting story--I have a copy of this but haven't checked it out yet. I'll give it a listen asap....

Lee Konitz Meets Warne Marsh Again (Pausa)

That's one of the more amazing Warne Marsh performances on record...and there are many...which is to say some of the best 20th Century music on record..

And Lee is in damn fine form too.

Not having a chordal instrument freed these guys up in all kinds of ways, and there's really not that much of it on record.

Just..superior music in every regard, and I mean that as absolutely as I'll ever mean it about anything.
