Max Roach - Chattahoochee Red (Columbia) Listening to this record, with its opening duet between Martin Luther King and Max Roach, is an MLK day ritual for me.

Sonny Fortune - Long Before Our Mothers Cried (Strata-East)

Thelonious Monk and Sonny Rollins (Prestige Japan)

Classic! :tup Love Sonny's playing at this Bird-influenced stage on "The Way You Look Tonight" and "I Want to Be Happy".

Dizzy Gillespie Jam - Montreux "77 (Pablo)

Some good Diz and Bags. The rest of the musicians don't add much of anything.

This is a great record. I did find the box set for the 77 Montreux festival. Some great music from that festival.

Probably my favorite of the Hodges/Davis albums.

Agree, and add Grant Green to the mix and it makes that much better.
