BillF Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Read some interesting writing by Mike Zwerin on Stan Getz the other day; prompted me to give this a spin. Their horn-swapping on some tracks is an interesting curiosity, but it's the other tracks that I keep returning to. Quote
Leeway Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Read some interesting writing by Mike Zwerin on Stan Getz the other day; prompted me to give this a spin. Their horn-swapping on some tracks is an interesting curiosity, but it's the other tracks that I keep returning to. I wonder what was behind the instrument swap? Supposedly it was Mulligan's idea. Plying head games on Getz? Just "horsing" around? The other confusing thing about this album is the multitude of titles and covers it has gone by. On the back of the original jacket, producer Norman Granz said, "The session produced a second album which will be released shortly after this one..." I don't believe a 2nd album from the session was released, was it? Wonder what happened? Now for something completely different: Paul Flaherty, Bill Nace: "No, the sun." Open Mouth Records. Quote
