paul secor
The New York Bass Violin Choir (Strata-East) Heard a later edition of the New York Bass Violin Choir in concert (probably 1984). Sam Jones had passed by then and I remember an announcement that Milt Hinton was stuck in Queens, due to heavy rains and flooding that day. jeffcrom
Inspired by the "name five" thread: The Insect Trust - Hoboken Saturday Night (Atco). Dated, but pretty interesting. Of most interest to jazzheads will be Trevor Koehler's sax playing and Elvin Jones' appearance on two cuts (although the mix makes him sound like he's in the next room). Later: I hadn't played this one in awhile; this time I enjoyed it more and more as it progressed. Leeway
Another for Don's birthday. While listening to this album, I was thinking that Cherry could have fit in admirably with the Art Ensemble of Chicago, in a "what if" scenario. It's Don's birthday! Don Cherry 'Togetherness' (Durium) I believe that's the same album as this one:
Leeway
I dont know if this album is eponymous or was actually titled, "Brown Rice" (that's how it's been reissued). Cherry is one of those artists who always seems a step ahead of his listeners. I like that about him.

I used to have it on vinyl, as far as I recall it was always known as brown rice.
