clifford_thornton
Yeah, haven't bought any of their records though I've seen them live a couple of times and thought they were very strong.

jeffcrom
Most of the music I've been listening to lately has been relatively conservative/conventional. Tonight I felt the need for something radical. So: Dave Holland/Derek Bailey - Improvisations for Cello and Guitar (ECM). Pretty amazing, in my opinion. Then, I listened to a classic that I haven't listened to for awhile: Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder (BN Liberty - with the Van Gelder stamp, for whatever that's worth). Also amazing, especially after not spinning it for several years.
jeffcrom
Martial Solal - Himself (PDU). Solal solo, at the top of his form, on a 1974 Italian LP - close to mint condition. Life is good.
jeffcrom
Another old favorite: Archie Shepp - Fire Music (Impulse)
clifford_thornton
Other than the Solal, which I don't have, those others have not seen spins in many years in the Clifford household... hmm. Earlier tonight, spun a very clean copy of this record, bought recently to replace a somewhat ratty copy: Nature's Consort - Nature's Consort - Otic Bobby Naughton, Mario Pavone, Laurence Cook, Mark Whitecage and James Duboise in concert, 1969. Beautiful silk-screened cover.

Chuck Nessa
Another old favorite: Archie Shepp - Fire Music (Impulse) That's the second cover - it replaced a pic with Rudd and Tchicai.

I was wondering which cover was earlier. I bought my copy around 1976.

As I thoroughly enjoy Naughton;s Understanding I think I need to investigate currently spinning

kh1958
Hampton Hawes--All Night Session Two (Contemporary stereo, green and gold) A really nice copy I picked up at the Jazz Record Center a couple of weeks ago. In general, their prices seemed to have gone up, but this one (1960s pressing, I think) was only $15, and it sounds amazing.
