Chuck Nessa
Just finished listening to the first 7 sides of the George Lewis Mosaic set. I was burning cds. Great stuff!
jeffcrom
Coleman Hawkins - The Jazz Version of No Strings (Moodsville mono). Ignorant me - not only I was totally unaware of this album until coming across a copy today, I was completely unfamiliar with the Richard Rodgers musical No Strings. I've always liked "The Sweetest Sounds" as a jazz vehicle, but I didn't know it came from this show. This green-label, Van Gelder-stamped copy is slightly battered, but it sounds pretty good with a mono cartridge. I'm tickled with this find. paul secor
Until that record, I had no idea that baboons played cards. When I'm flicking through the channels and come across televised poker tournaments, a lot of the competitors look like baboons.

jeffcrom
An old favorite: Ornette Coleman - Crisis (Impulse). Not well recorded, and I've never been a fan of Denardo Coleman's drumming (although I like it at this stage better than later) - but this is a stunning performance. jeffcrom
Bebop Is Where It's At, Vol. 1 (side one) & Vol. 2 (side two) - the Dave Schildkraut/Don Joseph/BIll Triglia live 1961 date that is spread over sides of two different albums, for some ridiculous reason.
