jeffcrom Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Muggsy Spanier and His Orchestra (Jazum) 1953 radio broadcasts, recorded by a microphone held up to an AM radio speaker, it sounds like. Great traditional jazz, in spite of the sound. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 now this , not heard the CD but the original recording quality is a little sub-par and probably not worth the extra cash to go with the LP version , it's a fine set none the less Thanks for the advisory. I was thinking of going for the 2LP set of this so will probably now opt for the CD. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Last night Bobby Pierce - Introducing Bobby Pierce - Cobblestone with Pat Martino, Booby Jones (ts), Roy Brooks & Bob Cranshaw on the two vocal tracks. Seems funny for an organist not to be able to handle the bass lines when he's singing. Not an album I play often but, every time I do, I think that I should play it more often. I reckon there are quite a few early seventies LPs in that category. MG Quote
Clunky Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Junk Man- first track interesting to compare with Teagarden's superlative version, Mr T wins IMO. Quote
