Leeway Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 GREAT JAZZ TRIO - MILESTONES 1978, Inner City Records. Hank Jones, Ron Carter, Tony Williams. Fine trio playing, and top-notch sound. Quote
sidewinder Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Charles Mingus 'My Favourite Quintet' on America Records. Some misleading BS on the front cover about this being the Town Hall concert with Dolphy and co. It's not, the group has Hilyer, McPherson & co. Absolutely insane version of 'Cocktails For Two' on this. Quote

Alexander Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 I recently got that Bechet album. Great stuff, ain't it? B-) I'm at work, so I'm not spinning it now, but I recently got a copy of "Sonny Stitt and the Giants" which I've been enjoying immensely. A patron here at the library where I work part-time gave it to me after I told him I'd gotten a record player for my birthday! Very nice indeed! It features Howard McGhee, Kenny Clarke, Tommy Potter, and Walter Bishop, Jr. I'd never heard anything with McGhee from this late date before (1967). Quote
