paul secor Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Groove noise on my Shure test record. Still have one of those - useful when I have to reset my equipment. Mine was noisy from the day I got it. Quote

NIS Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 With the inimitable Cleve Pozar, no less. Nice one. I didn't know Cleve Pozar was inimitable. Actually, I'm not sure I even knew what inimitable meant until I just looked it up. I think this is the only album I have heard him on but he does good work. I particularly like the vibes/marimba cut. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Keep an eye out for an article upcoming on AAJ online. There's also an "Encore" about him in this month's AAJ-NY paper. Cleve is a fascinating character. Go onto youtube and search bata to see what Cleve the instrument-maker has been up to lately. I wholeheartedly recommend his Cleve Solo Percussion LP (private-press) and the Savoy vinyl of Good Golly Miss Nancy, not to mention his STUNNING turn with Bill Dixon on Intents and Purposes (RCA-Victor). Of course then he was "Robert" instead of "Cleve"... Quote

I'll bet the condition of this one is a lot better than the description would tend to indicate. Factory sample too. There have been some less than good copies of this one on ebay in the last few years (not many in total) but I'll bet this isn't one of them. Edited April 8, 2009 by sidewinder Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 I dunno - I've bought from that guy before and it's been fine, but I never go below VG++ in buying an LP online. I might pay $500 for a clean one if it were to come around. Too bad I just plopped down a fat student loan payment! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Dammit, I put it in my "watch" queue. Quote

Hot Ptah Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Mc Coy Tyner's "Together" album, on Milestone. I had not heard it in years. It struck me for the first time that it is almost an easy listening album, at least compared to McCoy's other Milestone albums. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Has it ever been available on CD?? Not legally. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) Dammit, I put it in my "watch" queue. If I lived nearer to Leicester I'd pop around to Jazz House and check it out for you in person ! :rsmile: Sadly, it's over 150 miles away.. Will be keeping an eye on this one too.
