Swan Silvertones LPs this afternoon - RIP Claude Jeter

Love lifted me - Specialty

My rock - Specialty

The Swan Silvertones - Vee-Jay (Everest)

The Swan Silvertones - Vee-Jay (Upfront)

and, on 78

Jesus remembers/My soul is a witness - Vee-Jay

The sound on this 78 is bleedin' fantastic! Clear as a bell! Why did we ever go over to vinyl?

Don Patterson with Booker Ervin--Hip Cake Walk (Prestige, blue label, mono)--This sure is a good sounding record, Don Patterson in particular leaps out of the speakers into the room.

Recently brought home Black California on Savoy, Charles Earland Black Talk!, Paul Motian Tribute on ECM, and the Hampton Hawes/Charlie Haden duets sealed on Artist House.

Pretty cool after the fact, looking at the connections between these four albums. I didn't notice any at the time I bought them!

Don Sebesky and the Contemporary Arranger's Workshop, Moving Lines (Doctor Jazz)

Looking at the cover, it's hard to believe this is the same turtelneck-wearing hipster you see on CTI albums. At a certain point, all white jazz arrangers started looking like guys you would see on the golf course!

Lonnie Smith 'Think !' (BN Manhattan 80s pressing, DMM Ron McMaster transfer). Suprisingly good under the circumstances !

This is simply one killer badass album, every bit as groovy as the cover would suggest. Got this in budget bin at 3rd Street Jazz in Philly back in the early 80s when so many BNs were cutouts. "Son of Ice Bag" rocks, blows away Hugh Masakela's original.
