I did actually come across a copy of Horace's Phase 1 in the bins a few years ago but the picture of the kaftan turned me off. :g

I bought Isaac Hayes' records because they have kaftans on the covers.

I'd give 1/32nd of my left nut to have a clean early pressing of KOB.

Not to gloat, but I have a pristine mono six eye. Gorgeous...

Mine was about a VG+ but still a little crackly. I gave it up for a CD copy and, of course, a fistful of dollars.

I think I remember reading something about all of the vinyl versions of KOB being a couple of semi-tones off??? Or maybe I'm getting it confused w/ some other LP??

NOT EVEN ONE semitone off. First song in D minor. On LP, in the cracks between D minor and Eb minor. Big deal. Unless you're trying to play along with the record.

John Dankworth 'The $1,000,000 Collection' (Stereo Fontana, US pressing).

Not a best-of, but an orchestral suite inspired by a particular collection of paintings.

Tony Coe and Kenny Wheeler are in the band.

I just spun this a few pages back. A real solid album, but then so is everything I've heard by Dankworth.

Get the Zodiac Suite on Fontana if you don't already have it!

Thanks for the suggestion! Actually, I don't have it, so I'll see if it shows up somewhere at a reasonable price.

Seconded - also 'Full Circle' on UK Fontana (but that one is quite hard to find). And 'Windmill Tilter' !
