Teasing the Korean Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Otis Redding and Carla Thomas - King & Queen - Stax (Sundazed reissue). Did Sundazed use the mono master? The stereo is one of the WORST stereo mixes I've ever heard: Carla in one speaker, Otis in the other; the bass in one speaker, the rest of the rhythm section and horns in the other. There are parts of the album (when one singer is featured) where all the action is in one speaker and there's a lone bass plunking away in the other corner of the room. What were they thinking? Quote

porcy62 Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) Jarrett/Redman/Hayden(sic!)/Motian - Bop-Be - Impulse! Great music, that Charlie Hayden smokes, never heard of him, any information? Excellent recording and pressing: I can clearly distingue Jarrett's 'singing' from cymbals. Edited June 15, 2008 by porcy62 Quote

Clunky Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Earlier Al Cariola- Everything happens to me ( Realm) - UK 1963 issue of Savoy session - Deep in a dream. Early smooth jazz but with Hank Jones and Kenny Clarke providing some colour to a dreamily paced session. 2 stars only. Now Art Ensemble of Chicago- Urban Bushman (ECM)- a good one for sure. Quote
