Teasing the Korean Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique - Sir Eugene Goosens & LSO - Everest 35mm stereo. From the dollar bin at Stereo Jack's. Now that I'm not in Beantown, those stickers are staying on the album covers! Edited March 27, 2008 by Teasing the Korean Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique - Sir Eugene Goosens & LSO - Everest 35mm stereo. Silver label, deep groove? Unfortunately, a later pressing, though I do have a few of the silver labels. Surprised that you didn't comment when I recently posted that I was spinning Goosens' recording of Antill's Corroboree with Ginastera's Panambi suite. Not only one of the greatest records ever made, but with a shrunken head on the cover to boot! Quote
kh1958 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Joe Puma--Audobon All Stars (Columbia six eyes) Erroll Garner--Concert by the Sea (Columbia six eyes). After coming across trashed copy after trashed copy, I finally found a clean one today. J.J. Johnson--A Touch of Satin (Columbia six eyes) The Exotic Sounds of Bali (Columbia two eyes) Red Garland--Red Alone (Moodsville). This one it appears was originally for sale for $4.98, then reduced to $4.15, which apparently induced Ruby Lee to purchase this album (and write her name on it). Quote
mjzee Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Ah, Sauter Finegan on vinyl with cover art by the great Jim Flora. Life is good. I've seen a mention every so often from posters who are fans of Jim Flora. There was an article in 2006 on the Flora family: The Fabulous Floras Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Thanks for sharing. I have both of the Jim Flora books that Irwin Chusid put together, and I'm always happy to find albums with Flora covers. Quote
six string Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 I had a nice listening session last night. I played some albums I haven't heard in a while. Down Home Reunion - The Young Men from Memphis (UA)DG Mono Ritual - The Jazz Messengers (Pacific Jazz) Maroon DG Mono Mustang - Curtis Amy (Verve) Black MGM Mono Them Dirty Blues - Cannonball Adderly (Riverside) Blue DG Mono and finally Kenny Burrell - (Bluenote) vol.2 DG Lexington Mono The house was swinging last night! BillF Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Ritual - The Jazz Messengers (Pacific Jazz) Maroon DG Mono A few years ago I traded in this old favorite for the CD version because of the extra tracks, but I lost the back cover photos of the group and the large scale image of that great black and white abstract painting on the front. shouldn't have done that! Teasing the Korean Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) I paid a whopping 25 cents for this in pretty clean shape. The cover is flawless. I should add that this is one of my favorites among the 6 or 8 records by them that I have. Edited March 28, 2008 by Teasing the Korean Quote

I had the same problem tonight with my daughter : she wanted to watch cartoons on TV. But my Don Sleet's All Members, jazzland orange DG original was spinning. I said no. Don Sleet wins. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Does "Bull Session with the Big Daddy" really qualify as a "great new song written by Brian Wilson?" Edited March 28, 2008 by Teasing the Korean Quote
