brownie
Was that Mingus date issued in the States by Prestige as "Reincarnation of a Lovebird"? I liked that double lp. . There were two albums from the Charles Mingus band that were released originally on America, 'Blue Bird' and 'Pithycantropus Erectus'. They were later issued on the Prestige two-fer. paul secor
Johnny Griffin: Live in Tokyo (Phillips-Japan). Griff and the rest of the band - Horace Parlan, Mads Vinding, and Art Taylor - had a true groove going for this concert.
Leeway
Johnny Griffin: Live in Tokyo (Phillips-Japan). Griff and the rest of the band - Horace Parlan, Mads Vinding, and Art Taylor - had a true groove going for this concert. More Johnny Griffin: Recently picked up a Johnny Griffin LP recently: "Big Soul Band," Riverside mono pressing. Sounds great and everyone is in fine form. Bobby Timmons, Clark Terry, Julien Priester, et all. I like Johnny's playing here, even though he takes the lead, he really tries to work within the ensemble concept. Dulfer's liner notes: "...those companies...should be advised to worry about a new slogan than 'Hometaping is killing music'."
