brownie Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Kenny Burrell 'Guitar Forms' (Verve, mono) the cover has a full horizontal sticker reading ' Arranged and conducted by Gil Evans' under the album title. There was a time once when the name Gil Evans was helping the sale of records Quote
Daniel A Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Got this one today: Lee Morgan 'The Gigolo' (orig. stereo Liberty). The playing is fine, but the recording only average (weak bass, messy cymbals). Quote

six string Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Grant Green 'Idle Moments' (BN NY USA stereo) One of my favorites from a long list of favorites by Mr. Green. All I've got is the Captial BN reissue from the '90s, but it sounds ok, since I've never heard another version. His music kind of snuck up on me. I've never been very partial to jazz guitar in general, but between his style and his bandmates, I got sucked in pretty fast. I now own more music by him (mostly cds) than any other jazz guitarist.
