porcy62
John McLaughlin 'Extrapolation' (Marmalade, stereo) I've got only a cheap Polydor pressing of this Me too - with the square German cover art. But it was $2 and has served me well. Something about paying $60 for an otherwise $5 LP doesn't really get my juices flowing. Mine is a U.S. pressing with Original Cover Art (I think ). Mint and nice sound for $10.
clifford_thornton
Yeah, the US pressing came with the Marmalade cover image. The UK and German Polydors had geometric cover art on front, and the original back sleeve image.

sidewinder
John McLaughlin 'Extrapolation' (Marmalade, stereo) I've got only a cheap Polydor pressing of this Just cleaned this one up and it sounds . Same cover design as the Polydor but 'Marmalade' labels and Marmalade logo on front and back cover. At one time this copy belonged in the Thames TV library (hippy hotbed), which is sort of neat. Amazingly, after that tenure it emerged NM ! Don't think I paid more than £15 for it. Edited July 26, 2007 by sidewinder

The only 'Marmalade' record I have is "Streetnoise", (Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll and Trinity)...and I paid more then £ 15 for it. BTW No regret. The other two [Volumes II and III] are on CDs cut for me by a friend from his vinyl, so don't belong on this thread. Fabulous compilations on the Roulette label. Birdland series. sidewinder
[i have that Marmalade stereo too, with a brief backliner note from Gorgio Gomelsky who produced the date! Hadn't noticed that Gomelsky note before ! First time I heard any of this music was 'Binky's Beam' which was included as a single track on a fabulous UK Verve twofer with various jazz guitarists. That twofer was just about the greatest compilation of jazz guitar I've ever heard. Currently playing Neil Ardley 'Greek Variations' (UK Columbia Lansdowne stereo)

patricia
Been playing my recent acquisitions MG Do you find that you often have a backlog of LPs that you've snapped up and haven't had time to actually listen to them? I blush to admit that I do. Now: Bernstein plays Brubeck Plays Bernstein - The New York Philharmonic with the Dave Brubeck Quartet conducted by Leonard Bernstein. "Dialogues for Jazz Combo and Orchestra" by Howard Brubeck. This is a much more interesting collection than I thought it would be.

I blush to admit that I do. Not often - though at present, I'm still working my way through the 30-odd African albums I bought in Paris a few weeks ago. I'm about 3/4 through them, in terms of listening enough to get a good feel of them. Now: Bernstein plays Brubeck Plays Bernstein - The New York Philharmonic with the Dave Brubeck Quartet conducted by Leonard Bernstein. "Dialogues for Jazz Combo and Orchestra" by Howard Brubeck.
