sidewinder Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 I discovered that these NY stereo RVGs don't sound bad at all. And they are definitely cheaper then the monos. Some of them are better, to my ears. Exhibit A - Booby's 'Happenings', where there is distortion on the mono pressings (at least every one I've heard). The stereo NY USA is great ! Quote

Actually I noted that on most of NY first pressing, (I mean not a NY reissue of an earlier label) with a proper set up, the coherence of the soundstage is excellent. At last Rudy learned how to record, mix and master a stereo record, I presumed that's the reason because his stereo's Impulse! of the same period sound great Quote

ep1str0phy Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 John Stevens: Freebop (Affinity, 1982) -First time spin, but I've heard nothing about it and the Stevens disco on the efi website fails to mention Jon Corbett's presence on trumpet. As far as first impressions go, and even for a Stevens album, it's good. Quote

Shawn Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I actually dig GG's Visions, I can understand why it bothers some...but it's got a nice groove and Grant sounds good as always. Quote
