GA Russell Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I recognize Sebastiao Neto in the lower left. Is that Sergio Mendes in the lower right? Luis Parga was the pianist in that group, though Sergio led a similar trio during that time. Thanks TTK. I don't know Parga. I gather you like him? Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Thanks TTK. I don't know Parga. I gather you like him? Honestly I don't know of his work beyond this group. I love those early 60s bossa piano trios, though - Milton Banana, Sergio Mendes, Os Bossa Tres, etc. Quote

sidewinder Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Tony Kinsey 'Thames Suite' (Spotlite). Fine big band with Ronnie Ross, Derek Watkins, Keith Christie etc. Tribute to the river - recorded by the BBC for 'Jazz Club' (sounds familiar - I think I caught it at time of broadcast). Shawn Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Yeah, and that's a bitchin' record. I'm assuming that 4191 would be a NY USA with no deep groove, and that would be the first. Unless there's a Liberty-label Mono, but I doubt it. It's not a Liberty pressing, it actually looks identical to the one in the picture. One of my all-time favorite albums! The nice thing about the vinyl is there are no drop-outs during Amanda (the master tapes are damaged). Quote

porcy62 Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Jackie Mac LET THE FREEDON RING, NY "ear" stereo. After the fine tuning of my TT and system I discovered that these NY stereo RVGs don't sound bad at all. And they are definitely cheaper then the monos. Quote
