That record disappointed when it was issued. Have not listened since. I don't "get" the reputation of this date.

Well, it may not be to your taste, but it creates a distinctive vibe with its use of baroque harmonies, flute, wordless female vocals and jazz backings. If you still have a copy, you may want to give it a spin just to see how it hits you several decades later. But if you don't like it, I'm sure you have no shortage of great stuff to listen to, and I respect your opinion.

Joe Harriott 'Abstract' (UK Columbia Lansdowne mono)

Nice find!

Yep - Sounds great. It's one of those old Columbia 'factory samples' so the sound is spectacular. After years of living with the CD, the clarity is a revelation !

Nice little listening session earlier...

Amalgam - Prayer for Peace - (Transatlantic)

Peter Lemer - Local Colour - (ESP orig)

The Trio - Conflagration - (Dawn)

Kees Hazevoet - Pleasure One - (Peace)

Back from a late meal and it's a little hard to decide on the proper comedown...

Bert Jansch - Lucky Thirteen - (Vanguard), a little "Needle of Death" perhaps!

Unusual example of a Brit getting a session on ESP. Used to hear him a lot on BBC Jazz Club sessions back in the day - his wife Pepi was featured quite a lot too.

Yeah, they seemed like an interesting pair. I wish he'd recorded more, though... just two examples, right?
