Remember buying that LP around 1982. There was a real feel that modern jazz was on the up again around that time, after a while in the doldrums, with that LP something of a marker for the upsurge.

I love the whiplash between the delicate post bop on side one and the track "Jug's Not Dead" that opens the Freemans' set. But its also immediately obvious which of the two is going to be the deeper.
