Excellent record for listening while storm Ciaran passes by here. I’ve got fond memories of this record as it was the only Coleman Hawkins record my dad had but he spinned it a lot, loud and especially on dark rainy autumn afternoons. I later picked it up as one of my first vinyl records for 5 euros.

Yes two excellent recordings from Verve for a long time here in the stock too.

The upcoming reissue made me spin this again. I still agree with every praising word I gave to it. I am curious how the reissue will sound. Guess it will not be from the master tapes? The original sounds incredible as all those Japanese Victors from the ‘70’s do.

I'm listening to it too.  ;)

I hope that BBE obtained access to the master tapes and that the AQ is top shelf.  Right now, I only have a blogosphere-sourced MP3 that I stumbled across many years ago.

Also, this reissue makes me wonder whether perhaps BBE will be able to reissue other Japanese Victor albums in the future.  For example, I would LOVE to see a reissue of Akira Miyazawa's Kiso

Oh yes lots of interesting stuff in that catalogue! And very well recorded.

Admittedly bought this mostly for the cover but there's not much wrong with the music either

😁 👍 Can follow you. Great coverart looks a bit like  DSM drawings.
