Kevin Bresnahan Posted November 23, 2023 Report Posted November 23, 2023 Just finished - Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet - Live (Columbia UK/Jazzman). I assume they told the live audience that this was being recorded and to hold your (polite) applause until the end of the tune or else this live audience doesn't sound very into the music. Now playing Kenny Dorham - Kenny Dorham Memorial Album (Xanadu). Quote

I also assume that this approach crops up in spots on later Takayanagi CD-Rs though some of those I have not heard. Quote

One or two celebs present e.g. actor John Le Mesurier. That studio space is now someone's posh kitchen ! Edited November 25, 2023 by sidewinder Quote

I convinced myself to buy it (a $5 investment) because of the familiar sidemen, Marty Paich, Dave Pell, and Bob Enevoldsen Quote

Kidding aside his music on "Tread on sure Ground" is very fine. Cinedelic Italy have reissued this on vinyl (Juno, Soundohm etc). Pressing is excellent IMO and way way better than I was expecting. Cool JoJo sounds positively mainstream from the clips I've heard by comparison. Quote
