So comfortable to play, ....... just "strollin´...." . On the other hand it´s always a bit hard for me to remember more tunes on an album since Horace made so many of them and mostly I remember important tunes which we work out on one or another occasion: "No Smokin´" is a favourite of mine since it is so brisc so quick, and often someone calls "Nica´s Dream" of course... jazzbo Posted November 21, 2023 Report Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) John Coltrane "Ballads" Acoustic Sound Series Impulse LP This sounds great. The Japanese SHM-SACD released this year seems to share this mastering. Bought for "Free" and ten dollars shipping from The Sound of Vinyl. Edited November 21, 2023 by jazzbo Quote

I've never seen this LP "in the wild" and it's only been on CD on the bootleg Lonehill label, who I don't support, so I guess if I want to play it at home, I'll need to pick up an original LP. Do you know the story on it taking 10 years to see release? Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted November 21, 2023 Report Posted November 21, 2023 Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet - Shades of Blue (Columbia/Jazzman Records). From the LP box set of a few years back. I think it's funny that whoever reproduced the cover art actually made it a shade of green. Jazzman: Original: Quote
sidewinder Posted November 21, 2023 Report Posted November 21, 2023 I have an original and it is definitely blue ! Quote

sidewinder Posted November 22, 2023 Report Posted November 22, 2023 Today's purchase, Japanese Edition. Came with a nice letter from Billy intending to explain the music - presumably to one of his students. Unexpected find ! A bit of a punt in today's haul. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted November 22, 2023 Report Posted November 22, 2023 yeah, Takayanagi's Tristano moves owe a lot of debt to Bauer's playing here. Quote
