Baby Face Willette - Stop And Listen - Connoisseur Series vinyl - "Wally"

I have the name "Wally" written on some of my LPs, too. Where did you buy that?

MG

Wally Traugott did most ( all? )of the Connoisseur Series Lp issues. Maybe some of the Rare Grooves Lps as well. Usually has the "Mastered at Capitol" machine-stamp, with a "Wally" hand-written next to it.

I do not recall where I got this particular copy, but a local mom n' pop vinyl shop in this area still has a SEALED copy of Jackie Mac's "Destination Out!". I have one of these as well and think it sounds great.

I think I even started a thread in the past offering to pick it up for any interested board member. That was back when they also still had a copy of Duke Pearson's "Sweet Honey Bee." Alas, someone finally snagged that one...

My offer stands...

Art Blakey "Theme from the Golden Boy" (original stereo Colpix)

This is really one of the most enjoyable Messengers albums! Particularly good to hear Shorter's arrangements for the eight-horn frontline.

Jimmy Smith - It's necessary - Mercury orig (because of the reissue of "Bluesmith")

Willis "Gator Tail" Jackson - Neapolitan nights Prestige Fantasy green label (one that will NEVER be on CD though it was obviously still selling in the '70s)

Willis "Gator Tail" Jackson - Star bag Prestige blue label orig (with Trudi Pitts at her swingingest - quite rare)

Jackie McLean: A Long Drink of the Blues

Whenever I listen to the studio talk/craziness at the beginning of this record, I'm amazed that they got a session out of it.

What amazes me even more, its the fact that some people pay more thant 400 $ for a NM original copy of this one.

It cracks me up - maybe that's one reason why it's so expensive, the comedy factor!

Well after all it is "a long DRINK of the blues". The answer maybe hidden in the title.

I hope you have the America issue.

Don't know if "you" refers to me or cliff or both.

I'm unfamiliar with Arthur Jones on America.

I was talking to you.

Scorpio was produced by Claude Delcloo. As I understand the story, he was pissed with BYG and took the masters to America. BYG being pissed about that deal issues a "needle drop" of the America pressing.
