Milton Nascimento - A Barca Dos Amantes (Barclay/Verve, 1986)
Special Guest: Wayne Shorter

Produced with a very 1980s sheen -- but gorgeous regardless. Nascimento's amazing voice and songwriting carries the day.

Plus Wayne does his thing on a few cuts.

The Prestige Blues-Swingers featuring Coleman Hawkins - Stasch (Prestige/Swingville). Idrees Sulieman, trumpet; Jerome Richardson, alto sax, flute; Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax; Pepper Adams, baritone sax; Ray Bryant, piano; Roy Gaines, guitar; Wendell Marshall, bass; and Walter Bolden, drums.

The guitarist, Roy Gaines, was an unknown to me. Mainly a blues guitarist, he only recently died (August 2021) and seems to have made a name for himself as a sideman. Fun record.

I somehow missed this recording until @sonnymax started a discussion about these Prestige jam sessions. It's very good and I'm glad I was able to pick this up for around $25 for an older RVG pressing.

I have that album but did not realize the Roy Gaines on guitar was the same Roy Gaines that I saw in 2016 at the T Bone Walker Blues Festival in Longview, Texas.

Interesting looking one.

Yes but first listen again. Initial impressions are that it's nicely knotty.  The version of 'Naima' could be three times longer it's that good.

sweet - had a couple of Gaslinis on OFF and both had too much crackle (scratches) so they got purged. I really like him a lot, though. A number of his works remind me of a European, further-out George Russell.

Little unpleasant fact from Discogs, your  wishlist and collection can be set as private, but the ratings that you provide to your releases are always public...

Have to admit I have never seen that cover or the record.

A lovely followup session to Hip Harp posted above by jazzcorner (the two records  can usually be found on the same CD with the early cover). Beautiful Alone Together, perfect for  late night listening.
