Dan Gould Posted October 29, 2020 Report Posted October 29, 2020 Lining up three Houston Persons. That Chocomotive is a great potential BFT source with Alan Dawson playing vibes instead of drums. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 29, 2020 Report Posted October 29, 2020 Chocomotive is a good one. Quote

I bought three of the RSD Hino titles as my introduction to his leader dates, this one may have to be the next Meanwhile, the morning's arrival. What a hidden (from me, at least) gem this is E.W. Dan Gould Posted October 30, 2020 Report Posted October 30, 2020 Just finished Stiles and moving on to Ruby with Scott. I am guessing this is the earliest recording those two made together. Quote

I display LPs on the walls of my listening room. 27 albums that I'm always rotating, putting one up and taking another down. Fuji has been up on the wall for a l-o-n-g time b/c it's such a lovely cover. ... And the music on Fuji is excellent too. Edited October 30, 2020 by HutchFan Quote

kh1958 Posted October 31, 2020 Report Posted October 31, 2020 Earl Hines Plays Duke Ellington (Book of the Month Club). Preposterously, this four LP set is formatted for stacking and flipping--side 1 backed by side 8, side 2 by side 7, etc. I'm imagining all the Earl Hines fans out there with their compact stereos stacking their records to listen to 4 or 8 sides in a row... On second thought, not a bad idea in the face of such piano magnificence. Quote
