I have a couple "Wally" BNs and they sound good to me. There's a long discussion about Wally Traugott on the Hoffman Forums:

Evidently, he's best known for his mastering and remastering of rock albums. I didn't know that and have no interest there.

The ‘Basra’ sounds pretty good on the ‘Wally’ imprint. I have a stereo orig. NY pressing of that title and will have to cross-check. Some good titles put out in the Wallys - Bobby Hutcherson ‘Patterns’ and Kenny Dorham ‘Whistle Stop’ very effectively cover the requirements for me.

Ken Colyer - Club Session with Colyer (London). Colyer's band is the one European trad band that I might mistake for a New Orleans band in a blindfold test. And that remains true no matter the vintage and no matter who was in the band. One could argue about whether that is a good thing or not, but it at least speaks well for his vision as bandleader and his ability to get that vision across to his musicians. And yet there's a subtle personal spin to the music. I like this stuff.

the conn-sims is also really really good birdland 50

and theres some bird filler cuts thrown in!!!! from birdland feb 1950!
