Chico Hamilton - Chic, Chic, Chico (Impulse, 1965)
Chico's music always has that texture -- regardless of instrumentation or chronology.

BTW: I wonder why this record hasn't ever been reissued on CD. Or has it?  (I don't see a CD entry in discogs.)

It might be interesting to try to find out at which concert featuring which "name" artist(s) this photo was actually taken.

It's very similar to the cover of Ray Charles's "Yes Indeed!" album, isn't it?
