mjazzg
Kahil El 'Zabar & David Murray - Golden Sea [Sound Aspects] I saw this duo in a not yet finished Jazz Cafe in London in about 1989 when this was released. Winter, no heating, no licensed bar but the music kept us all very warm. I don't listen enough to the El 'Zabar recordings I own
clifford_thornton
I've never felt that the recordings come in any way close to seeing him live, which is always a treat.

One of the interesting Sound Aspects releases (probably the best one being Kahil El'Zabar Featuring Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors "The Ritual") .... mjazzg
Enough Mr Murray. Now for an all time favourite, irrespective of genre 10 minutes ago, Clunky said: Another good one . I recall having difficulty tracking this down but found DIW imports from Japan quite easy to come by I remember the DIWs being available at Mole but costly. I was surprised that 'Ming's Samba' was released in 1989. In my head it was later but I have no recollection of buying it. Clunky
Joanne Brackeen----New True Illusion-----(Timeless) rec.1976 Netherlands Picked this up last week for £3 and consider that well spent. Solid effort and not harmed by drummer being absent. I've so few Brackeens I wouldn't care to rate it, nor do i have clear idea of her unique selling points. A more muscular version of Chick Corea...probably not the greatest comparison but it's good and worth hearing.

paul secor
Pulled Sam Chatman's Advice (Rounder) off the shelves this afternoon. I found that I had placed a 3x5 card with the comment "Side 2 - Lovely!" inside the jacket. Played side 2 and it was indeed that.
