I hated that when it was released, seemed like total fluff, but that was then....how does it sound to you today?

Well, from the perspective of a David Axelrod freak, I love it.  I love those early 70s fake-rock concept albums.

"We Could Be Flying" is the money cut.

Horace Silver - Blowin' the Blues Away - Blue Note (stereo, played back in mono because Blue Note albums nearly ALWAYS sound better in mono, because you boost the bass and piano and horns and drums are not so overbearing.  This is how RVG monitored the sessions.)

Don Byrd & Gigi Gryce - Jazz Lab [Columbia, six-eye]

Chico Hamilton Quintet - With Strings Attached [Warner Bros]

An interesting experiment that is largely successful (more so than the cover art). String arrangements by Fred Katz.  Early Eric Dolphy.

I LOVE THE COVER ART!  That's why I bought it!  The record is good too!

NP:  Coleman Hawkins - Reevaluation:   The impulse! Years - impulse!, as you might expect, twofer.

James Moody & His Swedish Crowns (Dragon)

I enjoy Moody from this period more than his later playing.

Tasty. I want one of those. I tried to have Scotty beam me one down a few months ago but wasn't quick enough on the draw. Is yours of Vulcan provenance perhaps?
