Pepper Adams ———Plays the compositions of Charlie Mingus———(Workshop/ Motown)

nicely played session , perhaps too nicely,  it’s not twee but lacks a little of the grit that you get with Mingus. Great lineup includes Thad Jones, Zoot, Hank Jones, Benny Powell, Danny Richmond and Charles McPhearson.

John Mayall ———— Crusade———(Decca UK) mono

bought today for £3 in very good condition. Not the best Bluesbreakers I’ve heard but not bad either

Love the version of Albert King's Oh Pretty Woman, and the version of Freddie King's Driving Sideways is pretty good as well.

Todays nice find for around a tenner - not a mint copy but really excellent sonics, phenomenal really considering this came out in 1957. RVG in the runout, of course.

That’s a better find

Yeah, wasn’t expecting to find it. The same shop also had a Rendell/Carr ‘Dusk Fire’ at just less than £500. Not sure what condition it is in..:)

Jackie McLean - Swing, Swang, Swingin' (Blue Note). United Artists-era Stereo pressing which discogs.com dates to 1973.

  Swing, Swang, Swingin'.jpg

Followed by The Kenny Burrell Quintet With John Coltrane (Prestige). Green label Van Gelder pressing. Not much of an improvement over my Fanatsy/OJC pressing from the 80's.

Charles LLoyd - Manhattan Stories ; Resonance HLP-9016

The worst pressing I ever had. Almost like a caricature of a record. I assume yours was better but I am done with this label.

Interesting. My Jaco Pastorius set by this label was a fine pressing in excellent sound. Maybe a quirk?

Yes it is, mine sound very ,very good.

I have more records of Resonance and all sounds very well.

Did you clean the records with a RCM? That makes a difference. ;)

And as a bonus, I unstress the vinyl with a A.F.I. flat, flat, flat.
