I came to the Open Sky LPs through Bob Moses. Â Have you found anything subsequently that has consolidated the cool and original Liebman view? Â I'm thinking I might explore a bit more May I chip in and recommend "First Visit" (Philips Japan 1973 - with Richie Beirach, Dave Holland and Jack De Johnette)? If you like Trane and Ali on "Interstellar Space", you should really hear the title track...

Agreed! But there are three japanese pressings: http://discog.piezoelektric.org/marionbrown/r/sweetearthflying.html Edited November 7, 2016 by optatio

mjazzg
Open Sky - s/t [PM Music] David Liebman - Sweet Hands [Horizon A&M] the former has dated less than the latter and now... Masahiko Togashi Quartet - We Now Create, Music For Strings, Winds And Percussion [JVC] which sounds bang up to date
clifford_thornton
We Now Create is awesome. Have the same pressing -- would love a gatefold original but then again, have had spotty luck on the sound of those green label Japanese Victors... mjazzg
It astounds me every time I listen to it. I've not owned it for long but I'm sure it's not just novelty. It sounds so fresh and vital. It's one of those few albums I have where I always find it difficult to choose what to play next - often silence is the answer for a while I have this board to thank for discovering Togashi. Initially a post by Jeffcrom of "Spiritual Nature" then subsequent posts by your good self  and Homefromtheforest have kept the fire stoked
clifford_thornton
Spiritual Nature is awesome. I bought that JVC LP of We Now Create maybe 10 years ago and it was one of the first Japanese avant-garde LPs I picked up. Of course there are a lot of records in that category, many of them quite good, but Togashi's consistently remain among the best.
mjazzg
Circle - Paris Concert [ECM] I was interested to discover elsewhere on the board today that there are two other live Circle albums about which I knew nothing
