The McFarland LPs are 1960's mono pressings and sound great. I more and more think that Cal Tjader's 1970 LP pictured above was strongly influenced by McFarland's ideas.

Jim Pepper - Comin' and Goin' [Antilles]

first listen in many a year. A certain datedness in some of the instrumentation/arrangements does not obscure the strength and passion of Pepper's music.Glad to reacquaint

I totally agree - a product of its time, yet timeless.

Brotzmann/Parker/Drake - Song Sentimentale [OtoRoku]

I was there for one night of the residency. This is a marvellous souvenir. Is this Brotzmann's best rhythm section? Quite possibly

A couple of nights ago both "Golden Circle" records and the Town Hall 1962 record were played almost in full on a Belgian radio station.

Just imagine: two hours of the great Ornette Coleman Trio on nationwide public radio... In 2016!

Glad you found a copy, as I'm keeping mine ?

and I completely understand why now .

Bit pricier than JHR but as clean as a whistle which is very useful with music as intricate as this

Now...

Hot Tuna-------s/t--------(RCA) .

not played this in a while but it's good. Papa John Creach plays some mean fiddle.

New York Art Quartet-------s/t----------(ESP Jpn) 1975 Japanese edition. Sounds just perfect in every way.

My copy plays well enough but despite vinyl looking perfect very light crackle can be heard. It's not a distraction, I'm quite content. The cover has some sticker residue from a couple of those curses. If your copy is silent then that's probably money well spent.
