mjazzg
Jimmy Giuffre 3 - 1961 [ECM] prompted by the "5 best Jazz albums" thread. Always a stimulating listen Marc Levin Ensemble - Songs Dances & Prayers [Sweet Dragon] Probably a case of its rarity unjustly overshadowing the great and original music Tom Prehn Kvartet - s/t [Centrifuga] interesting listen, more than just of historical interest, I think Edited October 15, 2016 by mjazzg

clifford_thornton
The Noah Young is definitely good. Was sad when he passed last year -- interesting guy, seemed very nice.
mjazzg
That's sad, I didn't know that. In fact I know next to nothing about him other than what's on the sleeve notes. I picked it up because of Bobby Naughton connection. I was pleased I did, it's a strong listen with some memorable bass playing amongst other positives
clifford_thornton
For sure. He was formerly known as Richard Youngstein and played with Paul Bley, Peter Ivers, Perry Robinson, Burton Greene and others. Left music and became a substance abuse counselor in LA (with a side trip to Kansas City where he, I think, worked at KCAI).
mjazzg
Thanks, interesting story. I'll check out his appearances under Youngstein
