Did you look for the solo "Space Who" in the $1 bin? "Space who" is the only Japanese Lacy I am missing...although I'm not too bent out of shape about it because it was more or less a vanity pressing put out by the owner of the Egg Farm in Japan. Thankfully a friend once lent his copy to me so I could record it. Quote

sidewinder Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Christian Schwindt Quintet 'For Friends and Relatives' (Fredericksberg). Love the robust cover design on this. Covering similar ground to the Rendell/Carr Quintet of that era. Edited October 7, 2016 by sidewinder Quote

sidewinder Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Some Mosaic vinyl to kick things off today - 'Monk Quartet With John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall'. Phenomenal - can't believe I didn't pick this one up earlier 'Stan Getz 1953-54 Clef/Norgran Studio Sessions'. Very fine music and re-mastering/pressings. Quote

JSngry Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Hall Overton - Pulsations/Lester Trimble - In Praise Of Democracy and Common Sense (CRI) Perhaps a little underwhelmed by Pulsations, but just a few listens so far I know nothing about Lester Trimble yet, but as "period" as his piece here is (a singing of what appear to be straight-up news reports?), he accompanies it with some rather spirited percussion writing that is equally spiritedly executed. It makes for a fun listen as a result. Anybody got any further pointers towards Lester Trimble? Quote
JSngry Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 A delightful find, the music, the record, the liner-note pimping of the 1967 DSO, all of it, none of which I was aware of until last week. You might not always find when you seek, but you for sure are less likely to find when you do not seek! Quote
