jazzbo Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Listening to the Rampart Street Paraders side. Man, the fidelity on this lp is out of this world! Can't beat mid-fifties records for delivering the big bold sound! Quote

JSngry Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Kites are fun. And Richard Dais plays on at least one of these. Quote

Never did fully get into the first Amon Duul albums..always loved the folky OHR album best but didn't even keep that one. I did eventually buy a CD reissue of it that tacked on the great 7" tracks but for my money the "second" version of the band was best. "yeti" is an absolute beast no pun intended! Quote

Indeed - Cedar used to make annual, memorable 1 week appearances at Ronnies and his appearances back then always had Billy Higgins tow. Always tried to make one night of each of those stints. thinking about it, the band with Berg I saw around the time 'ER2' was released already had David Williams in it. Sam Jones was already very ill or had passed on. Great as it is having CDs or LPs by bands such as this, the experience of seeing them can never be matched. Sam Jones had quite recently passed on. You`re right about David Williams having replaced Sam Jones at the time of their performance (in Vienna) .... Quote
sidewinder Posted February 19, 2016 Report Posted February 19, 2016 Must have been 1980. Those tours were organised by Wim Wigt I think - he brought some great bands through the major European centres. Woody Shaw, Adams/Pullen, Dexter, George Coleman... Quote
RogerF Posted February 19, 2016 Report Posted February 19, 2016 Third issue of DeAgostini's 33 on vinyl part work, Lady In Satin available in the UK. Very good quality 180g vinyl and in stereo. Quote

Yeah I like the early Duul stuff a lot for whatever reason -- been on a 'Krautrock' kick lately and digging out a lot of this stuff again. Luckily most of mine are in really, really nice shape. The cover on Tago Mago has a small sticker tear and some edge wear (unsurprising on this textured thin UK pocket sleeve) but the vinyl is crisp. Quote
