Got a bunch of really rare original Prestige, Blue Note, etc for really cheap prices, but tonight I'm playing three Michael Garrick albums in NM condition I picked up in the pile for about $20 usd each.  "The heart is a lotus" "October woman" "Black Marigolds" All 3 are British laminated Argo pressings in pristine shape..very happy indeed!   Should go in the "great finds" thread Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 Anything you have doubles of, let me know! Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 No doubles yet; it's weird because he seems to have the albums I need or am missing! Â Yeah should go in great finds thread but I was spinning the Garrick albums last night so... He's an old friend and he knows the records are going to a good home.. Quote

paul secor Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Jo Jones: "The Main Man" (Pablo) One of the best Pablo blowing sessions (imo), and one that's usually overlooked. Jo Jones' playing was subtle, graceful, and had a true sense of dynamics.  Quote
jazzbo Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Yes, I have this material on the Teagarden Roulette Mosaic set in stereo, and additional tracks. . . but Teagarden sounds so so good on 'fifties vinyl. This is the mono lp and it's amazing. Â Quote

clifford_thornton Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 need to dig that one out again. I remember it being a beautiful album but it's been quite a while since it's been on deck. Quote

Homefromtheforest Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Sidewinder I have that exact same pressing of "patterns"! Â A great session... Still slowly getting around to playing all the records I recently bought from a friend: Freddie Hubbard "hub tones" (blue note, NY stereo "ear") Wes Montgomery "full house" (riverside, mono) one of the best sounding riversides I've ever heard! Art Pepper "intensity" (white label mono DG contemporary) Thelonious Monk "s/t" (prestige 7053, mono) beautiful original cover predating the Warhol cover..amazing how contemporary this 60 year old music sounds.
