Chuck Nessa Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Trying to make reasonable cdrs of Walter Klien's recordings of Brahms first two sonatas, Paganini Variations and a couple other pieces omitted from the Vox cd box. It ain't easy. Quote
paul secor Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Sonny Meets Hawk! (RCA Fr.) Sometimes when I listen to this, it sounds like a great record. At other times, it sounds like a spectacular fiasco. This listen, my impressions fluctuated from track to track. At the very least, it keeps me listening. Quote

Homefromtheforest Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Superb album! Â I paid a princely sum for this record about 20 years ago but it was in archive condition and worth every penny! Â Would love to see the film someday; I didn't know Barre was actually in it.. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Still need an LP copy of this. Wonderful session. Quote

mjazzg Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 John Patton - Soul Connection [Nilva] with thanks to Homefromtheforest and the poster that preceded him. Great listen Quote
John Tapscott Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Have had this LP in my collection for decades. Probably only listened to it 3 times when I bought it. Haven't listened to it since. What a fool I've been. This is a magnificent record. I hate to use the word "perfect" to describe a jazz record because perfection isn't the goal in jazz necessarily. But everything about this record is right and good. Â The jazz stars were aligned that day. The jazz gods smiled upon this session. Â Edited December 5, 2015 by John Tapscott Quote

I saw Teddy live a few years before he passed, very rare club appearance in NYC. Predictably great. The one time I caught him on the West Coast he had his arm in a sling and couldn't play. Still fronted the band though ! Edited December 5, 2015 by sidewinder Quote
