jeffcrom Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 AEC: People in Sorrow (Nessa) Bought my copy at the long-gone Peaches Records on Peachtree Street in Atlanta in 1978 or so. If I made a list of a dozen albums which changed the way I heard music, this would be on the list. Does your cover look like this picture? Mine is the unreadable yellow-on-white cover, which Chuck insists is not his fault. Quote

Bought it at Bud's jazz in Seattle around 1991 and it opened my ears too...I was just getting into Coltrane, Mingus, Miles, Monk and Ornette a year or so prior and this album opened the door to new musical horizons for me. Now I own the French Pathe Marconi issue... Quote

mjazzg Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Sirone - Artistry [Of The Cosmos] of all the LPs I've discovered over the last few years buying vinyl again this is the THE one. So good on every listen and whilst we're at it my 'People in Sorrow' is the unreadable (not Nessa's fault) version Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 yeah, that Sirone record rules. Quote
Clunky Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Buddy DeFranco and the All-stars--------------Wholly Cats------------(Verve) stereo Gentle session which is relaxing without being soporific. Ray Linn wasn't a known commodity (to me)but plays some nice solos in Chet Baker style. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I remember buying that - it was the first George Russell LP I checked out. I was probably 19 or 20 and the seller at the record fair was like "so young people are listening to George Russell now?!?" Quote
