One of my favourite jazz albums as well. No vinyl for me, but I have the Connoisseur, BN Works, and JRVG. JRVG is the best physical digital release. Quote

Homefromtheforest Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 I have the King pressing of "Basra" myself...have not played it in a few years so this is a nice reminder to spin it again! Quote
corto maltese Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 Liberty pressing here, which is fine. I would love to have this as an original New York label, but prices are obscene. This is one of those albums that make you wonder what would have happened if Coltrane had sticked to Steve Kuhn as his pianist. Quote

jeffcrom Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 The Bud Freeman Group (Stere-o-craft). Another Seattle find, and it's a beautiful thing - Bud with just rhythm section. The discographies say 1958 or '59, but I found a Billboard ad from November, 1957 for the tape issue. Quote

Clunky Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 Tomasz Stanko--------s/t---------(Pronit /PSJ112) Very fine feisty quartet session from 1982. Plenty of grit and swing that aren't as obvious in his ECM output. Cover art is outstanding, I think we can all agree. Blue colour, nice, Stanko's name spelt correctly but sadly horn depicted is inaccurate in the number and type depicted. Lazy or what. This seems to have been a generic cover to which they added brief text. Curiously according to discogs this was also released by Poljazz but with a different (nicer) cover here's the Poljazz cover of the Stanko Quote
