brownie
Albert Ayler Trio 'Spiritual Unity' (Get Back reissue) A reissue!?! Yes! From the Abraxas company. Based in Florence, the city of the Borgias! The vinyl comes in a transparent sleeve. One side has a full circular reproduction of the original ESP issue frontcover, the other has a full circular reproduction of the ESP album backcover! White vinyl background. Pretty nice object. Sound is OK (mono!). Have not compared yet with my ESP original LP. A sticker on the transparent plastic sleeve reads: 'Albert Ayler's 1964 debut release on ESP. A historical moment in avantgarde jazz. Spiritual Unity defined the ethos of ESP as the quintessential free music labels of the 60s and 70s.' porcy62
Paul Bley Trio on Radio Canada International label, recorded in Montral 1968, with Mario Pavone on bass and Barry Altschul on drums Brownie, the Abraxas label has a copyright policy very 'borgia's style and their reissues are very 'a la page', I would say nicer to look than listen to. paul secor
James Cotton: From Cotton with Verve (Black Magic/Netherlands) - late 60's Verve sides - probably Cotton's best. Noticed during this listening that Paul Serrano, who played on Eddie Johnson's Nessa release, played trumpet on some of these recordings. My favorite one of his (after the album with Coltrane).
