clifford_thornton Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Glad it went to a good home !! It's "in the family." Thanks for your sentiments ! Hope you got some nice ones from that list, Clunky. I just wish that the Esquires were easier to find. From what I gather, Carlo Krahmer and Peter Newbrook pressed them in very small runs/batches and some of the titles must have only got 1-2 batches at most. I did rather too well which is why I passed on the Wallington. I didn't read Alan's email too closely and thus got the list a day later. Naturally everything I wanted was gone (including Decipher). Clunky Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 Ronnie Ross --------Double Event --------(parlophone ) Decent hard (ish) bop date. Recorded hot in June 1958 with Andy White on drums. The same (I think) Weegie White was of course the first or second fifth Beatle replacing the laconic Starr on one version of "Love me do". Cleopatra's needle this isn't but it's well worth hearing. Clunky Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 Next up Frank Foster/ Elmo Hope------------Wail Frank wail---------( Esquire) Fine bop date with Art Taylor and Freeman Lee ( about whom I know little ) can't post the cover of this Esquire but it's mega dull- just yellow !! Music is great though. Another solid RVG recording Quote
