Homefromtheforest Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Steve Lacy "spiritual moments" (paddlewheel, Japan). Love this album...for some reason his Japanese LPs resonate deeply with me but then again it's no coincidence I have a ton of Masahiko Togashi albums as well... Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Spiritual Moments is a wonderful record. Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Neil Young "on the beach" (reprise, USA). My second favorite Neil young album after "tonight's the night" Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Bill Barron - Variations In Blue (Muse). Nice date with some great soloing all around. Jimmy Owens plays his ass off on a couple of tunes. Unfortunately, the record is pretty beat up, with a heavy scratch through most of Side A. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Ken(ny) Werner - The Piano Music of Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and James P. Johnson (Finnadar Records). It was a dollar so why not? It's actually very good if you like this style of piano music. I wanted to hear Kenny's first recording so I grabbed it. Quote

Homefromtheforest Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Slint - Spiderland - (Touch & Go, from the boxed set reissue) Classic album; bought the cassette when it was first released way back as I already had the Tweez LP and was a big fan of the Lousville scene eg.squirrelbait, bastro... I just bought the more standard LP/DVD reissue set...it's a pretty funny documentary! Love the interviews with the parents haha Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 yeah, I had it on CD in high school, then LP, now the boxed set. Saw the doc on screen here in NYC and it is pretty hilarious - Jon Fine from Bitch Magnet was interviewing them afterwards, and the next night I caught Slint play in Brooklyn. Good times. Quote
