sidewinder
US Verve LP I hate that cover. The CD mentions that there is a restaurant (somewhere in Brazil) which has copies of it plastered all over the walls. Not the place to eat then ! Leeway
RAPPORT - Ran Blake - Novus LP. Gave it another spin since Jonathan brought it up in the JLH reissue thread. It's a good album, not sure it would produce the demand of the Carter/Bradford or Tapscott, but deserving of a CD release.

jeffcrom
Hal McKusick - Jazz Workshop (RCA Victor). My copy of this great album is pretty battered, but it doesn't sound bad with a mono cartridge.
Homefromtheforest
After spinning a slightly noisy, but visually NM, NY USA stereo copy of Jackie McLean's "destination out" I am now enjoying a 47 w 63rd pressing of Stanley Turrentine's "up at mintons" vol.1. Sounds absolutely sublime...no crackling or surface noise and Grant Green is popping off the vinyl!

mjazzg
THE GRIP - India Navigation LP- 1977- Arthur Blythe (as), Ahmed Abdullah (tp), Bob Stewart (tp), Abdul Wadud (cello), Steve Reid (trap drums), Muhammad Abdullah (perc). A really fine album.I couldn't agree more. I played that, Metamorphosis and Bush Baby last week. It reminded how good they each are. Of course Wadud's essential to the success of the first two

Buddy Collette ---------Cool, calm and Collette...... ( ABC) Very fine album, quite a bit more muscular than I was expecting , aside from the leader Dick Shreveport on piano is excellent. jeffcrom
All the cool kids are listening to Bean, apparently.... Coleman Hawkins - Recordings Made Between 1930 and 1941 (CBS France). A still-valuable collection; I've had it since 1976 or so. I'm starting with the ten sides made in 1933 by the Henry Allen/Coleman Hawkins Orchestra. Dickie Wells almost steals the show a couple of times.
