Imperial Brass Band - A New Orleans Street Parade Live in Paris (Sandcastle). A fairly obscure New Orleans brass band LP from 1976. The Imperial was (in this incarnation) trumpet player Alvin Alcorn's band. He took a fairly small group (seven pieces, plus a grand marshall) to Europe on this tour, presumably for economic reasons. I would have preferred another trombone and a saxophone or two, but this is still some pretty enjoyable New Orleans street band music. There doesn't seem to be a usable image on the interwebs.

Willis Jackson - Grease 'n' Gravy (Prestige silver fireworks stereo label). I like a wide of variety of music, but this is exactly what I needed tonight.

when i saw Pat last year i presented this for him to sign- he smiled and recalled it as his 1st session! he was also like: theres my real name. :D

Flute Flight, prompted by Larry's post. I found this one a little while back, and like it, too. Sure, Mann was never an improvisational genius, but this is a long way from his Shirtless Rock Guy days.

I associate Ozzie Cadena with Savoy, but I have several Prestige albums he produced, including a couple of Willis Jacksons and albums by Curtis Fuller, Bud Freeman, and Roy Haynes.

my 1st prestige record

Pat Martino must have just about the most elaborate musician signature out there. What he did on the cover of my 'El Hombre' is a work of art !

Miles Davis "relaxin" ...from "the great prestige recordings" 5 LP box from analogue productions. Just sublime sound...the best versions I've heard of these amazing sessions. I have an XRCD of "steamin" but the version of that record in this vinyl box trumps that as well.

Laboratorio della Quercia (Horo). This two-LP set is one of the great unsung masterpieces of the Horo catalog. A 20-piece avant-garde orchestra improvises and plays charts in Rome, 1978. On board are Kenny Wheeler, Enrico Rava, Roswell Rudd, Steve Lacy, Steve Potts, Evans Parker, Tristan Honsinger, Frederick Rzewski, Kent Carter, and Paul Lytton.

That certainly looks marvelous! I have no doubt it is.
