clifford_thornton
With the arrival of my second baby I have just a few hours to unwind tonight so even though I have an abundance of free/avant garde etc vinyl in the collection I am totally craving just some classic (and good sounding) jazz! Goes great with a few super cold beers too congrats!

The Marge and Futura records are also strong, and the Whynot/Trio LP (Blue Piccolo) is okay. I'm not as big a fan of Plenty of Horn or the Prestige record - they're all right, nice dates, but he hadn't grown into Ted at that point. clifford_thornton
sure. I have yet to pick up the 70s electric dates on Atlantic Japan (Quicksand) or Columbia Finland (Ode to Booker Ervin). Curious though.

Leeway
TENOR RISING DRUMS EXPANDING - Sabir Mateen (ts) and Daniel Carter and Davis Nuss (drums). 1995. NYC. 1-sided 12" LP, hand-made and colored LP sleeves. Mine looks a bit different than the one pictured (has more blue); the LP label is the same. About 20 min of mind-altering flat-out, ferocious, wailing, screaming, crashing free playing. I love that stuff. Congratulations to Homefromtheforest: How about KOB for a chill pill? Leeway
Congratulations to Homefromtheforest: How about KOB for a chill pill? Haha thx good suggestion! I got to pick which copy to play though...have a us 6 eye stereo, 6 eye mono, a Canadian 6 eye mono, a Japanese Sony, the Columbia legacy CD AND the SACD! Yes I love this album I'll see if I can get some chill time tonight too but today's been rough...newborns are hard work and I'm just the dad! Homefromtheforest
I have an amazing Steve Potts 4tet CD called "Pearls"...And there's a great Steve Potts performance on a Tchangodei LP called "sans chemin"...with George Lewis...a superb LP that is a must have! jeffcrom
Potts also recorded a couple of albums with Chico Hamilton before he emigrated to France. And I have a 1979 album by blues harmonica player Sugar Blue that Potts plays on - Cross Roads. It was recorded in Paris, and has appeared on several French labels. Homefromtheforest
I don't have any of those Lps with Potts but I do have his LP on the "123" French label from the early 70s which is pretty cool...has a nice cover photo of him chilling out at some Paris cafe. I took Leeway's advice and am just finishing side two of my USA 6-eye stereo copy of "kind of blue"...probably the only record in my collection that I own over 5 different versions of. Still haven't played the 50th anniversary box set vinyl of this yet even though I have that too!
jeffcrom
Muggsy Spanier big band - Little David Play Your Harp (Jazz Archives). Muggy's short-lived big band only made two studio sessions, so this album of airchecks gives a fuller picture of what the band sounded like. clifford_thornton
Had a well-worn 6 eye mono for years, finally let it go a few years ago. Need to get a fresh copy, 6-eye or Japanese. One of several classics I no longer own on LP! Potts is a monster - need to grab a copy of that soundtrack LP that Homefromtheforest refers to, though I hear the pressing can tend towards the "off" side. I love that stuff. Mine is hand-painted with bits of gravel and sand stuck in the paint.

Kevin Bresnahan
Peter Leitch Exhilaration (Reservoir). Van Gelder pressing. Nice date that I've enjoyed on CD for years. Of course, I got it for Pepper Adams and he doesn't disappoint.
Leeway
Reissue of the album, "Togetherness" on Durium label. The Inner City is a lot cheaper Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri, J.F. Jenny Clark, Karl Berger, Aldo Romano. Really a very nice album.
clifford_thornton
I think I paid $40 for the Durium years ago. Strong session.
Homefromtheforest
I paid around the same for my durium copy too but if memory serves correctly there's a 1st and second issue of that album on the same label with a very minor difference between the two.. I used to have the inner city pressing too...nothing wrong with that issue...sounded fine...just preferred the artwork on the Italian issue. Thick poly bag, all's fine.Same solution for my copy of 'Sticky Fingers'Maybe cuz I'm a bit anal I can't stand weird/awkward LP packages! I like all my records straight up and neatly aligned...even when covers have a slight curve like some old blue notes I get annoyed!
