Homefromtheforest Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Keith Jarrett "Death and the flower" (MCA, Japan). Great sounding album recorded at Generation Sound in NY...Charlie Haden RIP MEV "leave the city" (BYG, France). Have not played this one in ages...forgot how cosmic/trippy this album is! Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Richie Kamuca: Drop Me Off in Harlem (Concord) Nice date. It's too bad that this never made it onto CD. I've heard that Richie's family holds the rights to those 3 Concord dates and won't license them. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Yeah, it's really good, epitomising the "free bop" ethos. Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 That's one of the few amalgam records I don't have...had a chance to buy the vinyl many years ago but at the time didn't like the price tag. Great band... Quote
jeffcrom Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Keith Jarrett - Life Between the Exit Signs (Vortex). Max Harrison had admiring things to say about Charlie Haden's work on Jarrett's debut album as leader, and he was right. Quote

jeffcrom Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 Paul Horn - Cycle (RCA Victor mono). Mr. Horn's recent death made me realize that I didn't have any of his albums as leader. I picked this one up last week in Mt. Vernon, Washington. I'm enjoying it well enough, but I doubt that it will survive the Great Record Downsizing that's going to happen in a few years. Quote
