Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 Ben Webster - Remember (Dutch Mercury). I have this on CD as "Big Ben Time". It's a nice swinging relaxed date from late in Ben's life (1967). I like most of this one. I could do without the organ tracks. Quote

As you say, a very good record. Quote
Leeway Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 KOM HUP LOOS - Gijs Hendriks Quartet: Gijs Hendriks (ts, as, ss), Stan Tracey (p), Bert Van Erk (b), John Engels (d). he LP. 1983. Hard to find a decent image of this album; the one above is a little bit trimmed. Not quite straight-ahead. OK LeeWay, here a pic of my copy. I know Gijs for years and have him seen perform dozens and dozens of time. Thanks! Too nice a cover to crop. I like Gijs playing here. (Don't have anything else by him). Tracey's too. Quote

Leeway Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 One of my luckier finds: NOW'S THE 'FRIPPE' TIME - Bengt "Frippe" Nordstrom (cl, contra bass clarinet, tenor sax, vocal), et al. Dragon LP. Important and influential swedish jazz saxophonist, also friend to Albert Ayler. and: BENGT - Mats Gustafsson (solo). Utech Records. Homage to Bengt "Frippe" Nordstrom. Mats on Grafton alto sax. LP on lovely creamy white vinyl (yes, I'm a sucker for that sort of thing; a little eye candy is not a bad thing). Mats was nice enough to sign my copy. I miss The Thing! Quote
