Leeway Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 The only thing that could follow the JOOKLOs: The Thing: Mats Gustafsson, sax, Ingebrigt HÃ¥ker Flaten, bass, and Paal Nilssen-Love, drums. Loud, raw, exciting. Quote

I think this is even more intense and butt-kicking than MONO (which I like too). Play it loud! LOL Quote
paul secor Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Guitar Shorty: Alone in His Field (Trix) Guitar Shorty (John Henry Fortescue from North Carolina, not the electric guitarist) was a unique character and musician in the blues genre. Quote

Clunky Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 Maynard Ferguson - Jam Session (EmArcy). Some nice Herb Geller and Bob Cooper here. I'd not count myself as an MF fan, built these two sides are great, much like Brownie's "Best Coast" jam. Quote
Leeway Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 duets with percussionist George Cross McDonald. Wonderful Is that one you got from that shop we discussed? Very nice! This might be even lesser seen than most of the others. Quote

This might be even lesser seen than most of the others. That's the one. I was walking out the door empty handed when I glanced up at the wall display....hey presto. I picked up the Rufus, Jazz Comp Orch and the Ted Curson at the same time. I left very pleased it was raining heavily had been the only reason I sought out the shop in the first instance! Quote

paul secor Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Jay McShann/Buddy Tate: Crazy Legs & Friday Strut (Sackville) Oh, I should get this. Did it come out on CD? MG Delmark Records is carrying a large number of Sackville CDs. I don't know if they bought the rights to Sackville and will be reissuing more, or if they are just carrying what was already available. Crazy Legs and Friday Strut doesn't seem to be available on CD from Delmark. I'm sure that Chuck knows more.
